Spring Mtn Shelter
Today I got up at 7 to have breafast with Renaissance Man, Snack Break, Biscuts, and Many Names. Then it was a dash to get everything done. There was packing to be done, excess gear to be mailed out, and to the outfitters to get a new guide book. Then I had to settle accounts with Elmer. I waited for McGyver and we headed over to the Hot Springs for a soak. We had lunch then poped into a disappointly warm, not hot, tub that was slowly filling. We bought an hour and it pretty much took the whole hour to fill the tub. We actually soaked for more like and hour and half to make up for that. I was initally disappointed but when I got out I was surprised at how relaxed I felt.
After that we got ice cream. It was 3 PM before we finally hit the trail. The climb out of Hot Springs was steep and fast but gave a lot to look at. Along the way I came across a fire tower with clear weather giving a wide view.
Then we hauled to Spring Mtn Shelter only to find a few miles farther there was a trail angel serving food at the next road crossing. Unfortuntly we couldn't make it before dark so we are spending the night here. On the way back from water hole I saw a couple neat black centipedes that had yellow spots on them.
Oh and the shelter has a very sociable mouse! :(
